Cytotoxic drugs, more commonly known as chemotherapy drugs, are used to treat cancer and other health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Because they slow the growth of living cells, cytotoxic drugs are also hazardous to human health. Hospital workers, waste management employees and pharmaceutical employees that prepare cytotoxic drugs are also at risk of exposure.
Baseline Testing
Baseline testing consists of Medical assessment including:
- Demographic data
- Occupational history
- Exposure history
- Medical history
- Physical Medical Examination
- Urinalysis – Blood Protein and Sugar
- Health Surveillance Summary report
- KINNECT Dr sign off
- Pathology requirements
- Full Blood Count
- MBA20 – non fasting
Periodic Testing
Periodic monitoring consists of:
- Full Blood Count
- MBA 20 – non fasting
- Urinalysis – protein, blood and glucose (in the clinic – do not send to lab)
- Review by KINNECT Dr
A Full medical should be carried out 5 yearly – this can be shortened if there are any concerns.

- Physical Medical Examination
- Health Surveillance Summary report – KINNECT Dr sign off
- Pathology requirements
- Full Blood Count
- MBA20 – non fasting
- Urinalysis – protein, blood and glucose
Exit Testing
No exit requirements or pathology testing.
