KINNECT Celebrates its 20th Birthday
In 1996, the cost of petrol was around $0.64/L and Australia welcomed its newest Prime Minister, the hon. John Howard but more importantly, a legacy was born. On 28th November 1996, a young Kevin Conlon started the company KINNECT from a caravan in North Queensland. With a vision of helping make people at work healthy, safe and productive, Kevin and his team set out providing employers with a highly personalised service, developing innovative and flexible health solutions and a commitment to demonstrating a positive return on investment for rendered services. Fast forward 20 years and it is these same principles which form the foundation of KINNECT.
KINNECT now employs over 110 staff and delivers a diverse range of Occupational Health Services throughout Australia and internationally, with Kevin still at the helm as Chief Executive Officer. With significant growth over the past 5 years, KINNECT has grown to become one of the largest privately owned Occupational Health Companies in Australia. Kevin attributes the company’s success to a number of factors but considers one to be of highest significance. Our people.
“The passion and skills of our people is unrelenting and their commitment to being better at what we do every year even after two decades continues to impress me on a daily basis”.
During the past two decades, KINNECT has achieved many significant recongitions, but none as significant as appearing on the Top 50 Best Places to Work in Australia list in 2015 in position #18. To go on to be ranked as the #9 Best Place to Work in Australia in 2016, was and continues to be the highest achievement for Kevin and his senior management team.
“To move from 18 to 9 and make the top 10 is a fantastic achievement for the team. The last 12 months has seen KINNECT go through it biggest changes in 20 years in both systems and growth. To know we have managed to improve our culture significantly in that time and have it independently verified is a fantastic achievement and a testament to our KINNECTers.”
To celebrate this significant milestone, over 70 KINNECT employees from around Australia, travelled to Couran Cove, QLD last weekend, to attend KINNECT Day 2016. An annual tradition and highlight of the year for many, KINNECT Day is also an opportunity for staff to learn about KINNECT’s 2017 plans and to form stronger working relationships.
For many, the highlight of the weekend involved a survivor style challenge as well as a 90’s themed party (in light of KINNECT being born in the 90’s). KINNECT Day 2016 was nothing short of a memorable weekend and highlights why KINNECT continues to be ranked as one of the Best Places to Work in Australia.
So it is with enormous pride that this week we celebrate 20 years of business and thank everyone who has been involved in helping KINNECT become the organisation it is. We look towards the coming years with complete positivity and determination to deliver on the promises that the business was founded on, to help make people at work healthy, safe and productive.
