KINNECT signs agreement with Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy to provide former worker assessments
KINNECT are excited to announce that we are a preferred provider for the Queensland Government’s Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME) former worker assessments.
This agreement will see us delivering assessments for retired coal mine, mineral mine and quarry workers across Queensland.
The Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy is the government body responsible for introducing and maintaining legislation surrounding the health and safety requirements for Queensland’s resource industries.
The DNRME introduced the former worker assessment in March 2019 to detect mine dust lung diseases such as pneumoconiosis for retired employees.
Unlike the compulsory health assessment that KINNECT delivers for current workers under the Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme, former worker assessments can be accessed on a voluntary basis and are free.
Retired coal mine, mineral mine or quarry workers are eligible to apply directly to the DNRME provided they meet the criteria listed on the department’s website¹.
Retired workers can contact the DNRME on (07) 3818 5420 or FormerWorker@dnrme.qld.gov.au.
