Listening & deep customisation key to new partnership with Fortescue for pre-employment & health surveillance services
An 18-month period of research, testing and customisation has secured KINNECT a formal agreement to deliver pre-employment and health surveillance programs to assess and maintain the health of over 6700 Fortescue employees in Western Australia.
Under the agreement, KINNECT will develop a pre-employment and health surveillance solution that will align with Fortescue’s medical guidelines, can be repeated easily at scale and maintain the upmost quality with respect to medical evaluation.
Clark Hopley, KINNECT’s Chief Customer Officer, said the initial research phase involved developing and executing three separate pilots over an 18-month period during which the KINNECT team could collect comprehensive feedback to refine its service delivery and ensure alignment with Fortescue’s goals.
“A big part of that was working in collaboration with key stakeholders to learn about their needs and build a customised solution. We talked to them to understand their positions, their sites, their similar exposure groups and the risk appetite that they wanted applied to each from a medical and functional evaluation standpoint,” he said.
KINNECT’s new programs also minimises disruption to Fortescue’s recruitment and health and safety teams, as well as on-site hiring managers.
We’ve created an end-to-end process that ensures all stakeholders – whether recruitment, health and safety or site-based hiring managers – receive information that is both meaningful and allows them to expedite their tasks to mobilise new employees quickly while minimising potential future health risks. Clear information now helps them understand how a new employee can be managed on site, and what restrictions or accommodations need to be put in place,” Clark explained.
For KINNECT, Clark says that the partnership with Fortescue represents a shift to becoming a strategic player in occupational health space for Tier 1 Mining and Infrastructure organisations:
“We have the capacity and skills to really customise our services so that they tightly align with the risk practices and goals of large, and often complex, organisations.
“We’re excited to have a partner like Fortescue on board. It’s not only confirmation of our expertise in the sector, but it’s helped us to create strategic alliances with other health providers like Spartan Health, and Marlu Health in Port Headland. It’s allowed us to expand our footprint in WA too, being a key driver in opening the Rockingham office and it will facilitate a further expansion to Joondalup in the future.”
