KINNECT is a preferred Medical Provider for Ambulance Victoria Clinical Placement Paramedic Medicals.
University students who are completing a clinical placement with Ambulance Victoria are required to undertake the Ambulance Victoria Medical and Physical Assessment.
Important Information about your Assessment
What are the requirements for paperwork?
KINNECT use digital forms to complete the assessment, and as such you will not need to bring in any paperwork with you. We understand that historically, there has been a PDF document used, however this is no longer required for KINNECT assessments. Unfortunately we are unable to use the old PDF template document.
When will I receive the final report after my medical assessment?
After you complete your assessment with us, your results will be reviewed and reported on by one of our Occupational Health Doctors. Once this is completed, we will email you a copy of your final report. This process can take up to 2 business days to occur. Unfortunately, we are unable to fast track this so please ensure you allow sufficient time for this process to be completed.
There are two important steps that must be completed in order to commence your Medical and Physical Assessment with KINNECT.
You must complete each step in numerical order (e.g. Step 1 and then Step 2).
Please note, you must supply all requested information in each step, in order for your medical and physical assessment to be completed.
Step 1 – Immunisations Step 2 – Appointment Details & Payment
STEP 1
Immunisations
Download Immunisation Requirements
Before you can commence your assessment with KINNECT, we need to understand that you have previously had the below immunisations:
- Hepatitis B
- Whooping Cough (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella
- Influenza
- COVID-19
Whilst not mandatory, Ambulance Victoria also recommends the following vaccinations and will collect any evidence you have for these:
- Hepatitis A
- Tetanus
- Meningococcal
Please note immunisation checklists/forms completed by a General Practitioner are not acceptable forms of evidence of your immunisatons and should this be provided, may delay your assessment being scheduled. It is a requirement of Ambulance Victoria that official serology reports and immunisation evidence (preferably MyGov statements) be provided to ensure compliance.Â
To help you understand your immunisation requirements and in order to submit the required information to KINNECT prior to your medical, please complete the below online form. You can save this form and return to it at a later date, should you need to obtain additional documentation.
Please note your assessment will not be scheduled until you have supplied all required immunisation data and this has been confirmed to meet Ambulance Victoria standards.
Do not proceed to Step 2 without having completed Step 1 in full.

Additional Fees & Further Information
Further Medical Information
If during the assessment process you are identified to have a medical condition that requires further medical investigation and/or information from a treating doctor, KINNECT will contact the you and provide a referral letter to take to your treating doctor. Upon receiving this information back from you, KINNECT’s Doctor will review the information and make the Fitness for Work Determination.
This fee ($175 + GST) is to cover the cost of the referral letter, review of the additional information and a final fitness for work determination by the KINNECT Doctor.
To avoid a further medical review being required, KINNECT encourage you to bring supporting documentation to your appointment should you have a medical / health condition and/or current injury. Supporting documentation may include:
- Letter from your treating Doctor / Medical Specialist
- Pathology and/or Radiology Results
Please note KINNECT will not provide advice or guidance as to what medical information a student should provide. We encourage the student to refer to the Ambulance Victoria Medical Guidelines or discuss with the University.
Non-negative Drug Test Results
Should your instant drug and alcohol test return a non-negative test result, we will send the urine sample for confirmatory testing (GCMS) which will incur an additional fee of $164 + GST, per drug class. You will be required to pay this additional fee prior to the urine being sent for testing and within 24 hours of your drug test. Failure to pay this additional fee, will results in your medical being deemed unfit.
Pre & Post Ventolin Spirometry
Should your spirometry demonstrate an abnormal finding, a pre-post Ventolin spirometry will be performed, ensuring the KINNECT Doctor has all the clinical information required to make a determination on your Fitness for Work. Â An additional fee of $70 + GST will be applicable.
Medical Clearance
Should you be unable to complete your initial functional appointment due to an identified health concern requiring medical clearance, KINNECT will issue you a medical clearance letter for review and approval by your General Practitioner. Â Once approval is provided by your General Practitioner, you will be re-scheduled to complete your assessment. An additional fee of $112 + GST will be applicable.
Medical & Functional Assessment Validity
Ambulance Victoria will accept Pre-Employment Medical and Functional Assessment for a period of 5 years providing the student has maintained continuous study during that time. Please note, should a student graduate and apply for a position with Ambulance Victoria this 5 year period does not apply and a new assessment will be required.
After 3 years if there has been a break in study of more than 12 months then re testing will be required.
Cancellation & Reschedule Fees
Please be aware that once you have placed your order, you will be subject to fees should you cancel or request to reschedule your appointment.
