Boyne Smelters Limited - Respirator Fit Test

Boyne Smelters Limited require all employees and contractors, working in dust and/or fume areas, to wear a respirator. To determine which respirator mask will provide the highest level of protection for each employee / contractor, a respirator fit test must be completed prior to attending site.

KINNECT conducts respirator fit testing in our Gladstone clinic as part of the Boyne Smelter Limited Respiratory Protection program. Employees and contractors must undertake a respirator fit test every 2 years at a minimum. Boyne Smelters Limited have provided KINNECT with samples of the respirator masks that are available for use onsite and for which an individual will use when having a respirator fit test performed.

On completion of a respirator fit test, KINNECT will issue you with a printed copy of your results, which can be presented to BSL as part of the requirement to access site. If conducted at the time of a Gladstone 3 Site Medical, Respirator Fit test results will be documented on the 3 Site Medical Card.

Important – Please Note:

Moving forward, BSL will no longer accept half face respirator fit tests for contractors as they will be required to wear a full-face respirator.

Approved full face respirators for use at BSL remain the same (3M FF400 and 6000 series + Sundstrom SR200).
