KINNECT is a preferred Medical Provider for Western Australia Department of Fire & Emergency Services Periodic Medicals.

During operational activities, firefighters and others may be exposed to a complex mix of combustion products from fires (e.g. polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, metals, and particulates), diesel exhaust, building materials (e.g. asbestos) and other hazards (e.g heat stress, shift work, and ultraviolet and other radiation.).

Therefore, DFES encourages firefighters and others potentially exposed to hazardous materials to participate in periodic medicals on an annual basis.

Other Important Information

Appointment Details

You will receive an SMS and email from KINNECT advising of your appointment details including location for the assessment. We will also advise you on what to bring to your assessment and other relevant details. It is important that you review this information and understand your requirements prior to attending. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, just let us know and we can help you out with arranging this.

Attend Appointment

Please allocate up to 2 hours for the medical assessment. While, in most cases, the process is much quicker, there might be occasions when, due to the clinic’s schedule, the total time taken extends a little beyond the initial estimate.

Medical Results

Your DFES Periodic Medical Results will be returned to yourself via email within 2 business days of your assessment. Should you not receive your medical results, simply reach out to us and we can resend you a copy.

Costs

The cost of your DFES Periodic Medical will be covered in full by DFES. You will not be required to pay for anything to undertake your DFES Periodic Medical.

Duty of Care

Should we identify a health concern that does not relate to your role at DFES, we will provide you with a Duty of Care Letter to take to your General Practitioner.
